Bluff / Spit / Drift

Erosion from the Scarborough Bluffs travels through Lake Ontario, once depositing on Hanlan’s Point, the site of Canada’s first Pride.

The man-made addition of the Leslie Spit has divided that route, causing the sediment we once celebrated on to drift away.

“Bluff/Spit/Drift” explores the literal carrying of sand and the figurative way we carry stories and histories. It questions what happens when histories erode and the locations they once defined no longer exist. The piece also contemplates how we connect to something when it’s washing away before our eyes.
